Jackie comes from a long line of driven and dynamic women. Her grandmother instilled in her a deep sense of community participation, teaching her how to reach out and find new opportunities, and setting the standard that “if you have, share.”
Jackie’s mother was a resilient and strong woman; a woman who drafted aeronautical engineering plans at a firm otherwise filled by men. Her mother required of her daughters curiosity and critical thinking, and ensured that Jackie and her sisters completed their education. Jackie learned from her mother not to take the world at face-value, but to ask questions and speak out.
Jackie spent more than twenty years as a small business owner in district three. During that time, she took pride in the principles of neighborhood stewardshipthat guided her business decisions.
She was proud to have paid above market rate wages as an employer and to have reinvested in the neighborhood through the everyday compassion and assistance she extended to neighbors in need as well as being one of the original participants of the Tulsa Mural Project, which has produced vibrant artworks in the district that embody its rich cultural landscape and has expanded the ability of Tulsa to attract tourists through Route 66.
Jackie knows that District 3 is the Gateway to Tulsa, home to Tulsa’s international airport and the eastern stretch of Tulsa’s Historic Route 66. As such, it presents an opportunity for immense, community-driven economy development. But she also knows that for District 3 to be taken seriously, it needs a champion at City Hall.
A deeply compassionate community advocate who has worked all her life to extend a hand to her underserved and voiceless neighbors, Jackie is that champion. As a Councilor, she will utilize her business and neighborhood connections to bring together coalitions and partnerships that will bring new opportunities and a better quality of life to District 3.
District 3 needs a Champion at City Hall. Jackie believes that she is the person for that job.
Jackie is focused on improving safety and liveability, creating economic partnership and opportunity, and ensuring access to local quality of life services.
